Another Follow-Up

A long while ago I posted the other tags that I had created for these 2 swaps and now here are the rest of them. It took me a while to finish all 30 of them and then I just forgot to post my regular Wednesday feature "WOW- What's on my Worktable" which is where the rest of the finished tags were posted. (Click here to see the other tags.)

Steampunk Of A Different Sort

In the past I have posted many patent drawings that have been made into black & white line drawings but these are a little different. They are actual photographs of some interesting patent designs and I think they would make wonderful backgrounds for any steampunk creation.

Now It's Done

Yesterday I posted photos of what was on my worktable so I thought I would post some more photos of the completed dogwood blossoms project for McGill. I took a regular 8" x 10" artists canvas and tore a hole through it after I backed it with an old german book page. (I love the old english font that was used.) I rubbed the edges with Frayed Burlap distress ink and then a little Walnut Ink to really get a dark edge. I backed the opening with a piece of chipboard that I made look like a stone wall. To do that I had a brass embossing stencil that I smeared stencil paste through, lifted it off, and then painted with acrylic paint. (I glued 2 layers of chipboard in between to leave a gap between the canvas and the stone wall.) The branch itself is made from a regular old lunch bag which I smeared with glue then twisted into a "rope". To color it I simply rubber Vintage Photo Distress ink over it while it was still wet. (You have to do it before the glue dries or you end up with spots that won't color because the ink won't color the dried glue.) The flowers are made with the Paper blossom punches from McGill according to their directions on their site.

OK all of you get your minds out of the gutter. A muff is short tube of fur or fabric to put your hands into to keep them warm.

WOW (What's On MY Worktable)

I realized today that I had completely missed doing this since I got back from the Tim Holtz cruise so I apologize that my brain is still on vacation. I have been busy lately designing some punchart for McGill. I was contacted a couple of weeks ago to do a bunch of projects for the next CHA booth along with many others using their Paper Blossom punches. Many of you may not know that I used to be a big scrapbooker and my specialty was using paper punches. I even published a book about punchart called Punch Artistry. (Click here for a shameless self promotion video.)  In my previous life I had done work for Memory Makers, Fiskars, Scrapboooks Etc. and Creating Keepsakes before becoming the lead designer for a small Michigan company called Kinetic Scrapbooking.

Basket of some of the Paper Blossom punches. The rest are on their way in a big box. (It will be just like Christmas.)

Here's a close-up of the dogwood flowers I am working on. You may have noticed that there was a small canvas in the large photo of the entire desk. I am planning on putting it on a canvas but the one I had was too small. I hope to tear an opening in the canvas and make it appear that the branch is growing out of the wall behind the canvas.

When I took the dog outside this morning I was seriously wishing I had one of these fur coats. (We had frost on the ground.) Brrrrrrrrr!
