Build Your Own Steampunk Character (Day 7)

I think that of all the characters I have done so far that "Shoot To Kill" is my favorite. There is just something about her look that said "put a gun in her hand".

Below are all the extras that didn't make it to the final cut when I designed her.

Really fun images but are they copyright free? I just want to know if I can sell cards I make with them.
Thanks
Betty

These are all so kind and clever of you to put together like this Valerie.
I've loved looking at how you've assembled your steampunk characters, they are so unique!

Yes Betty as far as I know they are in the public domain because of the age of the patents. According to Wikipedia a patent becomes part of the public domain after 20 years. (I have been using images from patents that are dated 1949 and earlier.)

If you've noticed a surge of traffic from one person all of a sudden it's me. I'm blown away by the effort you've put into posts such as these, and you aren't doing it for profit, but for pure enjoyment, sharing your clever gift with others. It's marvellous!

I'm building a website for business (currently running on Folksy), as I want somewhere I can get creative steampunk-wise. In looking for bits and bobs to make a character for my 'about' section I came across your creation above and loved it. I went a searching, thinking it must belong to someone, and ended up here. And have found myself looking again and again at all the options you've laid out for making steampunk characters. I'd give you an award if I made them hahahaha. I'm going to craft my own version, as I'm handy enough with photoshop, but she's going to mostly look like 'Shoot to Kill' because the gun pointed as it is adds something extra to her.

The upshot of all this gibber is to say thank you, and thank you I do. My place is called The Clockwork Jewel, and I am Esmeralda Cloud. My new website will have the word 'Emporium' on the end of the title, as I've always wanted that extra word but people said it made the name too long. I don't care, I must have an emporium! *laughs*. When I've finished building the shop and have gone live I'll let you know so you can see how I've employed your cogs and the like. Thanks again - Esme *smiles*
