What Dexter Saw (And other cute pictures)

Click on the pictures to see a larger view.

Last Sunday there was a lot of commotion in the house created by Dexter. (You'll see why in a few photos.) Our windows along the creek area offer a great view of the outdoors and the various animals that pass by there. So Dexter found the best seat to view the goings-on and sat there for many hours. (Even when I tried to watch TV.)

Nope .... still not gonna move mom!

Even after I got him off the arm of the couch he still wanted my spot on the couch to watch the window. (I just thought the crossed paws was very cute.)

Here is why Dexter was so interested. An eight point buck and his mate laid down and snoozed for about 3 hours right in the creek area.

Here is a better view of our afternoon visitors.

After the newness of it wore off I was able to get my spot back.... well kind of! (A little to the left mom.)

All that watching meant he had no nap so after the 2 deer left someone was very tired.

Every night he is very tired from new experiences so it is almost impossible to get him up and moving to go to bed. Consequently this was Rob's solution, so every night he get's carried to bed. (Can you guess who's baby he is this time?)

Dress Up Your "Do"

We women of today take a fair amount of time to get ready in the morning. Can you imagine what kind of time was involved to get into all those undergarments plus a corset and then clothes... and then you have to do your hair like one of these women. It's no wonder they ever get to leave the house before dark.

"Cuckoo, Cuckoo, cuckoo...."

Click on the picture to see a larger view.

I just finished this little gem for an altered matchbox swap on my Yahoo group. This is the first one I have ever done and I LOVE the way it turned out. I have no idea where the idea for the cuckoo clock came from. I really wanted to make it so the bird was on a spring so that he would "pop" out when the drawer was slid open but I couldn't make it work smoothly.

Anyways the box is cover in paper that I aged to look like old wood using several colors of Distress ink. The scroll work pieces are die cuts made by Provo Craft for the Cuttlebug. The little pine cone weights I made myself out of polymer clay. The little bird inside is a resin one that I found in the "dollhouse" miniature aisle of Hobby Lobby. To get the gable part of the house I just covered the front and back of the matchbox with a piece of heavy card stock in that shape. The roof is just another strip that is folded over the edges and cut with a pair of scalloped scissors.

This is the beginning of the paper for a set called the "Ingleside" collection. I named it that because these are the colors my house used to be painted in. I know it sounds weird but it did look good. The neighbors were happy because it was better then the butter yellow with kelly green trim that it was when we bought it.

I just love the first outfit. Although I doubt it was actually that color in real life, it is just fabulously hand colored.
