These are some images from a great book I have from Dover. Some of them I have tweaked the color in Photoshop to make them more appealing.

Through The Eyes Of An Artist

Click on the picture to see a larger view.

I have been a little behind in posting my recent artwork to my blog. (Shame on me!) So here is another page for the circle journal called "Through The Eyes Of An Artist". These 2 pages are for Karen Mercado and they were are real joy to work on. I usually am a real magpie when it comes to piling on embellishments so I tried to keep that to a minimum so that the background that I spent all the time making would not get covered up. It was a 3 or 4 step process that I started on watercolor paper. I mixed up my own "glimmer mists" via the Tim Holtz recipe. (Click here to view the video tutorial I made with this technique and much more on metallic powders.) I laid down some Tattered Angels stencil masks and then I spritzed the "burnished brass" Moon Shadow Mists over both pages along with the teal and hot pink I mixed. Once I removed the stencil masks I then dabbed it with a paper towel because I didn't want the walnut ink based spray to be too dark. I then took a piece of sequin waste and placed it over both pages and sprayed the teal and hot pink again. After that I took white acrylic paint and stamped a few images on both pages. I then went over them with a small paint brush to make the white more opaque and stand out more. I then cut out some flowers from napkins and separated the layers so that only the top printed later was left. (I glued them down with Mod Podge.) Then to frame each page I went to my sewing machine and put on my "free motion" foot. (That allows you to push the paper/fabric in any direction without the feed dogs grabbing it and propelling it forward.) I did a series of curls by just eyeballing it with some dark teal thread. From there it was a matter of just gluing on the image, quote, flowers, fiber, butterfly and title.

What's in My Drawer's? (It Must Be Wednesday)

Click on the picture to see a larger view.

This is the second set of iris carts behind the second cabinet door. (Sorry... this was supposed to be posted last Wednesday.)

This is all of my ash (or multiple leaves) and fern leaves.

These leaves are all made by a company called Emaginations. (Well except for the 2 that are a different color.)

These are all the other leaves that don't fit into the other 2 categories.

All my extra large leaves.

This is labeled manmade shapes. How does that differ from "household items" you might ask? Well they could be the same drawer except there is not enough room and the manmade shapes are not always stuff that you would find in the house. (I had to make up something.)

These are all "odd" shaped things.

Pots, Baskets and Vases. Yeah technically not all the drawers are alphabetical but they are my drawers and I can put them in any order I want. ( I really have no idea why it was in that order and now I am used to it being there.)

These are all my people punches.

These are all punches that are just "parts" of people. (I know it sounds gross but I couldn't think of a better name.)

Punch Count from 2 weeks ago is 649 plus this weeks total (176) = 825. We are fast approaching the 1000 mark. (YeeHaw!) ..... (I hope my husband doesn't go on my blog.) Anybody have a spare room I can stay in in case he does visit my blog?

Happy Halloween

Click on the pictures to see a larger view.

These 2 pieces are for 2 different swaps but because they are both Halloween I decided to post them together.
This first one is for a Haunted House swap and I provided the house die cut from chipboard for all the players. (It's mounted on a 6" x 6" card.) I cut my house from black mount board and then cut up a second house to add all the trim covered in black glitter. The tree is made from black wire that I twisted together. (Oooo! .... my hands are still aching!) The ghosts have a layer of "glow-in-the dark" nail polish on them. The black "gravel" or dirt is colored decorator sand. The fence, moon, witch, ghosts, pumpkin and bats are all punches. The orange swirls behind the bottom of the house is an organza ribbon with glitter swirls on it.

This is a 4" x 4" card for the monthly alphabetical swap. This month was "H" so Halloween was a natural fit. The broom I found at a local craft shop and I tied it with black embroidery floss. The spider web is a design I drew on my computer and then printed on a transparency. The spider is a silver charm that I painted with a special metal enamel. The witches hat is a sequin and the dripping goo and bats are all punches. The purple fence at the bottom is rubber stamped and then embossed with a dark purple powder.
