Dig Those Crazy Costumes

These costumes come under the category of "What were they thinking?" These are from a Paris casino, Folies Bergere and Moulin Rouge from long ago. I guess if you think of the showgirls costumes from Vegas today they are just as wacky.

A lot of artists seem to like images with wings or they seem to want to add their own. Here's a few beautiful ladies that already have a set to fly away with. Enjoy!

Something Fashionable From Something Free

Almost three years ago my husband and I had an addition put on our house plus we updated a few other rooms. His cousin works for KSI so he did all the cabinets for the new bathrooms as well as the kitchen. We ended up with scores of those sample chips you can get for free to choose countertops. His cousin said to me "You're very creative... I bet you can think of something to do with all these". Well the challenge was on and I ended up making about 35 necklaces in the first batch. I later gave them away at my husbands annual family picnic that fall. I then proceeded to make a bunch more with some "red hat" postage stamps I designed and gave them to my mom for her red hat group. (She is queen mother and used them as prizes and giveaways at events.) I am now hosting a swap for these necklaces on my Yahoo list and these are the 20 necklaces that all the participants will get.

They are colored with alcohol inks and then embellished with polymer clay faces, postage stamps, rhinestones, glitter, stamped embossing, beads, charms and paper. I sanded the corners to round them off and even cut a few into a shape with metal shears. The holes were the perfect size for larger eyelets and the ones that have dangles on I punched a hole with my Crop-A-Dial tool.

Go pick up a few at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. (They are usually on a pegboard back by the design desk for the kitchen and bath section.) Have some fun and make some necklaces, but be careful! They are very addictive.

Going Postal

Since these are larger images there are only 3 of them today. On the plus side though you are getting quite a few stamps on each sheet. These are some of my favorite sheets of stamps that I have collected so I hope you enjoy them. (They are sized to an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet at 150 dpi.)

It's The Day After Wednesday (What's in my drawers?)

These are pretty small drawers but they are jammed full of molds I have made myself and ones I have purchased from one of my favorite sites. (The Enchanted Gallery) Others I have found at Michael's and at a small locally owned craft shop called Munro's. It is a little hole in the wall with aisles barely big enough for 2 people to pass each other, but it is a place you can lose yourself in for hours. (You can order stuff online from them now too.) Anyways the molds I made are from things like my button collection, beads, figurines, children's toys, brass embellishments and whatever else I could find that I wanted to make copies of. It's amazing how differently you look at things if you want to make a mold of it.

I think a lot of us don't have enough romantic men in our life so here are a few sensitive men who are more in touch with their feelings. (YEAH RIGHT!) I don't know about you but I usually end up with the last guy who just grunts at you and then drags you off to his tent. (Hah, Hah!) We can all dream can't we?

Since spring has officially arrived I thought some flowers might be in order. I know we have had plenty of rain so bring on the blooms. (My basement finally stopped leaking, but both of my de-humidifiers died.) I just can't win!

Sunday Digital Download

Am I getting good or what? I remembered to download the Sunday Designs on Sunday. Will wonders never cease?

The "ball chains" are another set like last week but all in "anodized" colors. They are in 2 layers like the last set so you can use them with a tag and it will look like the chain is passing through the tag's hole. The other 2 designs are also meant as a set to use in 2 layers. The buckles can used alone or with their "ribbon shadows". If you place a colored strip of "ribbon" behind the buckle then apply the "shadow" on another layer in between the ribbon and the buckle it will make the buckle appear more realistic by adding the shadow. (Trust me...this works much better then trying to use the "drop shadow" option on any art program you may have.)

On a happier note it looks like the basement is almost done leaking for the year. I was actually able to create some things yesterday. AHHHHHH!!!! I feel so much better...

Always Read The Label First

Here are some pharmacy labels that are all in another language. I just thought they looked neat and could be used in a number of different ways.
